An old doily

Hello girls! Today I'd like to introduce an old model that I made often in recent years, enjoying different types of yarns and colors.
This is a crochet doily made: the model was presented in an Italian magazine, TuttUncinetto, which unfortunately is no longer published, and is simple and quick to do. Recently, I realized it with a beautiful white cotton for some wedding bonbonnière (I hope this is the right word...however please correct me!), delicate and elegant at the same time.

  1. I love these, the blue is so nice. What size cotton is this? I bought some green cotton but I think it's too thick and so it's crochetting up too stiff or chunky.

  2. you made these ?! wow !
what crochet size did you use ?

  3. @Kathy Ann and Sierra Moon: Generally I use an european 1.5 or 1.75. Recently I made a present for a friend of mine (I'll post it as soon as possible) with "Egyptian Makò Cotton gassed mercerized"; in the label the crochet was an european 2 (US 0, UK 12) but I used a 1.5. I think it depends on your hand, it's a question of "tension" (is it correct?)

  5. thanks for the info Tzugumi! I just finished the doily for the wedding in a 1.25 hook and I must say it does leave your fingers aching and I usually can do an hour or so before my fingers hurt but with such a small hook i had to break it down to 10 minute intervals.

  8. @Dawn: Thank you for your compliments :)

@Kathy Ann: Certainly, I'll post it, but I made a bonbonniere (it's correct? in Italy we call it "Bomboniera")not a ring pillow...sorry, my mistake!

  9. @Kathy Ann: Recently I used an european 0.75 mm. crochet to make a lace to decorated a pillow. My mother had an old lace but it wasn't enough for two pillows, so I reproduced it...but, I'm agree, with a small hook you can't work for a long time!
