Crochet detail on Cup Cozy

It has been ages since I posted anything on here and it is mainly due to the day job but also because I feel that I have not really got anything worth putting here as I continue to get to grips with following patterns.
However, at the weekend I finished knitting a travel Cup cozy as part of a secret Santa at work.
I have always been able to put a small flower together but it was a bit of a landmark (even if it is a small one) when I was able to follow some instructions to make my first leaf!!  Yippee!  Oh the feeling of accomplishment and guess what.....I was on my own and had no one to share it with!!  Typical, anyway here it is in all of its glory.  I also added some edging at the top of the cozy as well.
I used the tutorials that can be found at Attic 24.  They are so easy to follow.
I also bought a travel cup for myself so I shall make another cozy but this time with perhaps a bit more crochet!
More pictures on my blog.
Merry Christmas everyone where ever you are.

Pony Tail Ski Hat

I have thick hair and, as I refer to it, a "big ass" head. That said, I am growing my pony tail one more time to donate it to Pantene for wigs for women.
However, it has been YEARS since I wore a pony tail in the winter and my ears are already cold. This lead me to make this hat.
You can tell  by the stray piece of yarn across my head,
the hat wasn't done yet.
It is bulky and warm. I wanted to make it as warm as possible, using the yarn I had on hand, so I added more yarn to make the turn up brim wider. This way, my ears will be covered by two thicknesses.

I like the corkscrews, they just add some fun to the hat.

If you prefer a simpler design around the opening, I have included a picture and pattern for what I call “loopies.”
Then, of course, you might wish yours to be plain, I have included a picture of the hat before it was finished, at the top of this page, to show off the plain pattern.

First Christmas presents made!

These little crocheted covers over washed out jars make great candle holders. The lacey patterns cast a lovely glow when lit.  I made them in 4ply cotton and 3.5m hook.  I am going to use them for teacher gifts and not only will they be unique by using my stash and recycled jars they are going to save me $$$$. Love that!
