Moving away from the Granny Square....Slowly

Please excuse the odd shaped pics but they have come from my phone.  In a bid to move away from the faithful granny square I started making the above cushion following a pattern in Simply Crochet (I think).  After putting a question on my FB page as to whether it should in fact be a bag instead the over whelming feedback was a BAG.  So I made some handles and added a lining.
Sorry but the Granny stitch crept in there for the back panel as the original design was meant to have a fabric back for the cushion.  Rather tropical looking in the end.

Crochet wreath for bedroom improvements!

Lately I have been working on beautifying my bedroom. As a child and teenager I've always taken pride in having a very well kept and pretty bedroom but since getting married it's all gone down hill. See my husband believes a bedroom is just this place you sleep in 'who cares what it looks like?' So I've not really been in a position where I felt comfortable to spend money on making our bedroom special. But not anymore, I've had enough of ugly wallpaper and old-from-the-70's non matching quilt covers! And to kick off this home-improvement phase I am crocheting a few items to girly things up!

My first project has been a crochet wreath, which I am seeing everywhere at the moment, and which I just LOVE! Here are some photos from the one I have created.

At the moment it is just sitting on the kind of bedhead shelf. I would like to hand it on the wall or specifically on our bedroom door but I am not sure how I would like to hang it. I am looking at some options, a crochet cord or maybe a nice satin ribbon. I will post again later when I figure it out.

More crazy little critters by my sister

As I mentioned in an earlier post, my sister is starting to crochet as well. She's been busy making these little stuffed toys for her son. Here are some more photos of what she's been making.

My favourite is Yoshi (the last one) I told her she should write her patterns down and sell them. What do you guys think?

My sister is following in my footsteps!

Lately my sister has been posting her crochet work on Facebook. She hasn't been crocheting long but look at what she's come up with recently. I hate to say it but I think she is better at crocheting than me! Isn't the oldest supposed to be the best? hehehehe.

At the moment she is making up her own patterns for some little characters that are part of a kids' show that her son watches. I am not familiar with the show but I might have to check it out because these guys are so cute!

Tell me what you think of her stuff. Do you guys know what kids' show they're from?

I've told her she should write the patterns down. Might be a cool side hobby writing patterns for kids' toys.
