Toddler Socks

I found a pattern that I just love for toddler socks. Has anyone crocheted socks? I am going to give them a try for my little granddaughter, Anna. I just love the way that they look and I am sure that they will make up fast. Will post a pic when I get them finished. Here is the pattern if you want to take a look.

Weddings and Baby Presents

Finally I have once again held a crochet hook in my hand!!!!! I have spent this weekend making a pair of Mary Jane booties for my friend Nanette's brand new granddaughter Pipper. We were worried Pipper would never make it as her mother was having great difficulties with the pregnancy. (something to do with the placenta starting to grow into the lining of the uterus?) Can't remember what it was exactly but it was at one point life threatening to both mother and child. Anyhooo the little one and mother are well, just born a little premature.

I have quite a few babies to crochet for this year. Friends are also expecting their first in May and a work colleauge is pregnant and due in September!

Here is a photo of Pipper's new shoes.

I'd like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all who congratulated Axel and I on our wedding. Someone requested a photo so here it is!

Hope you are all having a lovely day and for those of you in Australia hope you had a great ANZAC day and long weekend.

Christmas Swap issues

Hello Crocheters!

I´ve been away for quite sometime, busy renovating my home, planning a wedding while working and then looking after overseas guests. I have to admit I haven´t picked up a crochet hook in about 4 or 5 months. But I´m married now, it all went pretty well on the day although the photographer was sick and we had some standby, our DJ was a total DJzillar yelling at us even though we were early and on time with things, also wouldn´t move his equipment so we could have the ceremony inside... we had to get EVERYONE else accommodate HIM! anyhow I could so write a book about the things that went wrong leading up to the wedding. Lets just say wasps and thieves were involved. The house is pretty much finished and most of our guests have returned home.

So while I don´t have any crochet news to share (will soon got 2 baby presents to make) I do have to do a bit of an administrative post. Unfortunately I have had some not so great news about the Christmas swap. Due to this news I would like to ask all of those who participated in the swap and DIDNT get a package to email me and let me know what happened. I thought everything had gone well so I didn´t ask before, assumed anyone with a problem would have emailed me at the time.

I don´t want to name people who may not have sent a package as they promised when they joined so please send an email directly to me do not leave a comment here. It is not my intention to conduct a public witch hunt, so to speak. I really just want to know who didn´t get one so that I can organise something for them. I´m so sorry for those of you who had a bad experience with the swap.

Let me just say for future Swaps- people who fail to send packages and have no good excuse (Good excuse being death in family, injury, loss of job, having to move with little notice, sick family member etc) will NOT be allowed to join in other swaps. as you can see it causes a lot of hurt for the other person and causes bad feelings among people in our blog community.

Sorry about having to post this but I want to make sure things remain fair and that everyone has a positive experience with this blog. A HUGE sorry to all who have had problems with this blog and this community. I´m sorry I haven´t been so on-the-ball lately, replying to people quickly but I am back now and things should be good again.

Flowers necklace

Hi dear friends, today I want you show you the gift I made for my mother: she wanted something particular to wear at a wedding party and I thought about a necklace made in cotton with a small hook.

Then a little touch of elegance: some white beads in the middle of the flowers, to give the necklace more light.

I hope you like it!

eco blue bag

for various reasons, one in particular, i've not posted for quite a while on this blog but i recently decided that, after all, one single disappointment was not going to keep me from your company. besides i'd like to share this idea because it's all about recycling and it makes a nice little Spring gift, for Mother's day, a friend or a sister...

all you have to do is to tear some old curtains, bed sheets...etc... into continuous strips (to avoid sewing them). the larger they are the bigger your crochet hook has to be.
the flower is simply made of several fabric squares stitched together. (best when viewed large, please click on picture)

i made this rectangle bag including the flower with a little less than 3 yards of fabric & a european hook size 9. i'm now working on a (crocheted) round rug & the fact that it is coming along fast is very rewarding.

edit : thank you all for the warm welcome (back) ! i'll reply to your questions in the comment section & i'm looking forward to maybe seeing some more bags here if you're up for recycling ;)
