Patriotic Granny

Hi Everyone,

This is my first contribution to this blog.  I am not as talented as you all are - but I love to learn.   I have challenged myself to use up this red, white and blue yarn before the 4th of July. I started this morning!  I am making one big granny square to be used as a lap afghan - let's see if I can get it done.

I'm writing today because I am a bit concerned about some people who have emailed me wanting to join but then not accepting their invitations, even after a month of me sending an invite and conformation email. I want to know are they not accepting the invite because they have changed their minds or are my invites not getting through to everyone?

I don't want anyone to miss out so please let me know if you have emailed me wanting to join but have not received an invite or don't know how to accept one. If you have changed your mind and that's why you haven't accepted your invitation that is fine.

Bonbonnière

This post is dedicated to Kathy Ann who asked for it. With the same pattern used for the doily of the last post I made some wedding bonbonnière (I hope this is the right word, however in Italy we call it bonboniera). I used an Egyptian Makò Cotton gassed mercerized with an european 1.5 crochet to pack a bag that contained lavander. You only need some tulle fabric, a satin ribbon and little flowers.

An old doily

Hello girls! Today I'd like to introduce an old model that I made often in recent years, enjoying different types of yarns and colors.

This is a crochet doily made: the model was presented in an Italian magazine, TuttUncinetto, which unfortunately is no longer published, and is simple and quick to do. Recently, I realized it with a beautiful white cotton for some wedding bonbonnière (I hope this is the right word...however please correct me!), delicate and elegant at the same time.

Hi everyone

I just found this site today and wanted to share some of what I have been working on. From what I have seen, everyone does such nice work.

Here is a round ripple that I started just after Christmas. I made it for my step-daughter. Hubby picked out her sheet/comforter set as a Christmas gift and she loved it. I am thinking about doing some throw pillow to match sometime in the future.

I have several projects I am currently working on and will post more about those a little later. I look forward to seeing everyone's work and I'm glad to be a part of the group

Crochet Ring Bearer's Pillow

I have been thinking about wedding stuff again, there is just 9.5 months left before my fiance and I tie the knot. I know it's still really a long time away but I thought since I've got time now I should start making some stuff for it. (We also have a whole house to renovate before the wedding Ahhhhh!) I was thinking of making an heirloom ring bearer's pillow using either crochet or cross stitch. I've never made a doily before or crochet with anything other than yarn so using this No. 8 cotton and a 1.25 mm hook was a bit of a challenge. The idea with this is that I will sew a little round cushion and then sew this to the top of it and through the middle hole attach some ribbon for tying the rings. As you can see there are hearts in the pattern to go with the wedding/love theme ( a bit corny I know but cute I think)

The pattern for this doily is here and I found it quite easy to read except for a few bits regarding the pineapple part of the pattern, it says something like (ch 3 and sc in ch 5 space) times 4 but what it means is do this in the next 4 spaces. There are a few other bits like this, you just got to use the photos to guide you.

I would just like to say a bit thank you to everyone for keeping the great posts coming. I LOOOOVE the diversity of projects being shared. Thank you to everyone who visits the blogs and leaves such lovely and encouraging comments. I am sure everyone would agree that such comments keep us going and make us feel just that extra bit special!

The terrifying UFO

After almost a year of sometimes frantic crocheting this top is finally finished - hooray! I started late last year as a special Birthday present for my sister and I had high hopes that I would have it finished within the month, how wrong was I!

Since the weather has become sunny again I decided it was time to knuckle down and get the top finished - and to give me the push I needed to actually do it I made myself promise not to start any more projects until it was finished.

I'm very happy with how this top has turned out, even without using a dressform (as recommended in the pattern) most of the motifs seem to have joined together without much warping (also helped with a good ironing yesterday). The pattern is from the CrochetMe website written by Katy Westcott (http://www.crochetme.com/galaxy-top) but this should only be attempted if you really do have oodles of spare time!

To reward myself for finally finishing I also made up this little guy from the pattern on Roman Sock (http://littlegreen.typepad.com/romansock/) and I'm going to be giving away one of these cute little guys on my blog.

YOU"VE GOT TOO MUCH TIME WHEN.....

I have so many UFO's that I really didn't need to start another project. But that has never stopped me before, so why now ? I got this idea to make something that would show how strong and tough the women are now. Yet we don't have to look like a guy to be strong, we can still be pretty and be strong inside. I hope I am making some sort of sense. Anyhow, this is what I came up with. I crocheted over some rocks. Hence the pretty outside but very strong on the inside. I also decided one would go to my eye surgeon to use as a paperweight and also the explanation of why it was made like this. I just thought y'all might like to see what nutty things I think up. I have several more rocks to stitch over. I'll let you see them when finished. Enjoy

well i'm so sad !! why ??? because the 2d issue of inside crochet is not long sold by magazinsondemand which is over !!! and there are some patterns hooooooooooooo GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD !!!
i got the 1st issue in digital version and was so happy to find it in this kind. But now, nooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww how can i get it ???
i contact inside crochet but no answer !!!

is anyone living in england can do anything for a poooooooooor girl ???????? lol

The Hexagon Granny Cardigan Finished

Another little cardigan finished. Just thought I´d share a photo of the finished product. Please visit my last post if you want to find the pattern for it. I did alter the pattern a bit and put a few rows down the back to make it wider without making the sleeves wider. This was a bit of a bother and disformed it a little until I crocheted the edging. I put 4 rows of edging and no collar to make up for the adjusted back. Anyhow it all worked out in the end and I am pleased. Also a very quick project just 4 or 5 hours worth of work!

My personal cactus!

I really like all kind of cactus. But I have two great problems. First of all I haven't the Green thumb so I can make dead all kind of plants (...).

The second is Kitty, my sweet cat. She likes to play with plants, expecially to take off the grass from the vase.

So I thought to make my cactus with crochet. No water, no special cares, no grass!

New Project

I just finished this new free form crochet project, it's one in a series inspired by the ocean...

I used a 2.0 mm crochet hook and a great thread from Turkey called Nazli Gelen Garden.

Hello everyone, my name is Josephine and I live in the South of Italy, in wonderful and sunny Puglia. I work crochet since I was a child - my granny taught to me - but I also like knitting, in completely relax.

During the last months I have worked on a pair of blanket: I didn't like much the wool colour - especially the green one - but through simple granny's squares and hexagons I think that they have reached a result quite happy! This one seems to be a green carpet with flowers, don't you think so?
