potholders :: just the beginning

In this post I want to say a big thank you to Kathy Ann for such her great work to pair us for the potholder swap !
I'll be very happy to work for Britta, and surprise her in the mail during the first week of December.
I made my first potholder last week (not for this swap or I wouldn't show it, of course !) from a shiny cotton (the main color is actually a nice grey not blue-ish, but my camera lens is broken & fussy when it comes to get a decent picture).
I believe cotton makes the most convenient (& safer in the kitchen) potholders, what do you think ?
The pattern is from this book.

And would like to highly recommend them, because they are real crochet bibles, and I love crocheting from diagrams (no I can't read japanese !)
If Kathy Ann is interested in adding them to the library shelf, I could scan the covers ?
These were bought at "kinokuniya", the japanese bookstore in San Francisco, during our summer vacations -- but they can be found on YesAsia as well, and probably other online sellers.

A Virtual Bookshelf has Been Added

I was looking at another blog and stumbled across this little widget that lets you put a virtual bookshelf on your blog. I thought it would be a good idea to add it to our blog and we could fill it with crochet titles we like and recommend. I have already put my favourite crochet book 200 Crochet Blocks for Blankents, Throws and Afghans by Jan Eaton on the bookshelf. I also added another, Beyond the Square Crochet Motifs: 144 circles, hexagons, triangles, squares and other uneypected shapes by Edie Eckman, that I think would be interesting but do not yet own. If you have a favourite crochet book please let me know and I can add it to our bookshelf. You can let me know by email or by commenting on this post.
